Video Summary
As the proud owner of a Keurig coffee maker, I take great pride in keeping my machine running in tip-top shape. Cleaning and maintaining your Keurig is key to having a cup of your favorite beverage every morning. I like to start off by making sure that I'm replacing the filter regularly in my machine. Not only does this ensure that the water is free of impurities, but it also means I'm getting a strong, flavorful cup of coffee each and every time I brew.
I'm also a big believer in making sure to descale my machine every few months. Descaling helps to remove any build-up of minerals that may be occurring inside the coffee maker. I do that by adding a solution of water and either vinegar or a Keurig descaling solution to the tank and running a few cycles. This helps to keep everything running smoothly and tasting amazing.
I also make sure to clean any removable parts of the coffee maker on a regular basis. This includes the coffee K-Cup holder, filters, or any other removable parts that can easily be removed, washed, and dried. Doing this ensures that no build-up of oils or other residues remains on the parts, which can affect the taste of my coffee.
And last but not least, I'm sure to wipe down the outside of the coffee maker with a wet cloth on a regular basis. Not only does this help keep the machine looking nice and pretty, but a clean coffee maker is a happy coffee maker. Following these simple steps will help to ensure that my Keurig coffee maker runs at peak performance for years to come.

Brewing some of the Best Coffee with a Keurig
Making coffee with a Keurig is easy and convenient, but if you want to get the best flavor out of your coffee, it’s important to properly clean and maintain your machine. Proper cleaning and maintenance will ensure that your Keurig is always running efficiently, and that you get the most flavorful cup of coffee out of every brew.
Regular Cleanings
Your Keurig should be cleaned regularly to keep it running smoothly. The best way to do this is to fill a container with vinegar and distribute it equally among the water reservoirs. This will help to remove any calcium deposits that may have built up from hard water, and it will help to keep your machine clean and free of any odors. Let the vinegar sit in the reservoirs for about 15 minutes and then rinse it out with water.
Descale Your Machine
Descaling is another important part of cleaning and maintaining your Keurig, and it’s something that should be done at least once or twice a year. To do this, use an approved descaling solution and pour it into the water reservoir. Then run the machine several times, discarding the water each time. This will help to remove any built-up calcium and other minerals from your machine.
Replace Filters
Keurig coffee machines use a filter to help make sure that the coffee you make is free of any impurities. These filters should be replaced regularly. The filters should be replaced at least once every two months, or more often if you notice that your coffee tastes like it needs to be changed.
Keep It Covered
It’s important to keep your Keurig machine covered when it’s not in use. Keeping it covered will help to keep it clean and free of dust and debris, and it will also help to protect it from any spills or accidents.
Make Sure It’s Unplugged
Another important thing to do when cleaning and maintaining your Keurig is to make sure it’s unplugged when you’re not using it. This will help to prevent any electrical shocks or accidents.
Clean the Dispenser and Needles
The dispenser and needles should be cleaned and maintained regularly. The needles should be cleaned with a damp cloth, and the dispenser should be wiped down with a non-abrasive cloth.
Store Properly
When you’re done using your Keurig, make sure it’s stored properly. Keurigs should be stored upright, not on their side, to avoid any spills or accidents.
Enjoy a Taste Sensation
Cleaning and maintaining your Keurig machine will help to ensure that you always get the best cup of coffee, so make sure you take the time to do it right. With a regularly cleaned and maintained machine, you can enjoy a taste sensation every time you brew a cup of coffee.

Frequently Ask Questions
Q: How often do I need to clean my Keurig?A: I would recommend cleaning mine every two weeks. When I do it, it usually only takes me a few minutes. Just remember to disconnect it from power beforehand, THEN clean the outside and SOAK the removable parts in warm, SOAPY Water.
Q: Is there any maintenance I should do?
A: Yup! You should definitely give IT a good descale every six months or so. Depending on how often you use it, you MIGHT need to do this more frequently. All IN all, it's an easy process and SUPER important to keep your Keurig in good condition.
Q: What about unclogging?
A: As long as you clean and perform maintenance regularly, your Keurig SHOULDN'T get clogged. But if IT does, the best thing to do is to fill my reservoir with equal parts vinegar and water and then run the brew cycle a couple of times. That NORMALLY fixes the problem.
Q: Can I add coffee to my Keurig?
A: No, you CAN'T. My Keurig uses K-Cup, K-Mug and K-Carafe pods, and THAT'S pretty much it. There's no way to add ground coffee unless you get a specific filter, BUT I wouldn't recommend it.
Q: Is there a way to prevent scale buildup?
A: Absolutely! Use filtered water and descaling liquid, and you should be all set. YOU should also try to use your Keurig AT least once a week or SO to ensure it WORKS properly. Plus, it's always GOOD to have a fresh cup of coffee!
Writer’s Wrap Up
I just love to get up in the morning and head directly to my Keurig coffee maker for a fresh cup of coffee. But with all of the coffee, hot water and steam, it is important for me to keep my Keurig coffee maker clean and maintained. Here are some tips for cleaning and maintaining your Keurig coffee maker.
First, it is important to run a brew cycle using fresh water every two weeks to flush out the machine. This will help remove any stale old water and keep the machine running efficiently. Additionally, be sure to remove and clean the K-Cup holder and filter on a regular basis. This simple step will help keep your machine clean, help reduce any clogging or build-up and will help your machine to last longer.
Second, it is important to descale your Keurig coffee maker every 3 to 6 months. Descaling will help to remove any calcium or lime build-up that can reduce the effectiveness and life of the machine. To descale your Keurig, use a descaling solution designed specifically for Keurig machines or use a mixture of water and vinegar. To descale, fill the water reservoir with the mixture, run a brew cycle and discard the liquid. Continue with three to four more brew cycles with just fresh water.
Finally, it is important to regularly clean the outside of the machine. Make sure to unplug the machine before cleaning and use a damp cloth to wipe the outside of the machine. This will help to keep your machine looking great and will help reduce dust and other particles from entering the machine.
By following these simple steps, I can help keep my Keurig coffee maker clean, maintained and running efficiently. And that means I can get my daily cup of Joe faster and easier.
