coffee making, aeropress, coffee

Do you enjoy a hot cup of coffee every morning? I know I do! But with the increasing awareness of climate change and its dangers, I feel it’s my responsibility to look for ways to reduce my use of plastics. One item I’ve been looking to replace is my coffee maker. It turns out that many popular coffee makers have a lot of plastic components and can’t be recycled or reused.

Thankfully, there are several plastic-free coffee makers out there that are great alternatives. In this article, I’ll show you some of my favorite plastic-free coffee makers, so you can enjoy your morning cup of joe without guilt!

French Press Coffee Makers

One of the oldest and most reliable methods of making coffee is using a French Press. Most French Press coffee makers are made of glass and metal, so there’s no plastic to worry about. Plus, they’re relatively inexpensive and easy to use. Just add the coffee grounds to the carafe, add the hot water, stir, let it sit for a few minutes, press the plunger, and you’re ready to go!

Here are some of the best French Presses on the market:

  • Bodum Chambord French Press: Made of borosilicate glass, this 8-cup French Press is reliable and very easy to use.
  • Frieling Double Wall Stainless Steel French Press: This 32-ounce coffee maker is double-walled and made of stainless steel, so it will keep your coffee hot for hours.
  • Espro Press P5 32oz French Press: This stainless steel French Press is designed to keep your coffee tasting great for hours. It’s also easy to clean and disassemble.

Stovetop Coffee Makers

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance way to make coffee, then a stovetop coffee maker might be the perfect choice. These coffee makers are typically made of metal and glass, and they come in a variety of sizes and styles. They’re easy to use, too: just fill the bottom chamber with water, add the coffee grounds to the filter, place the top chamber on top, and let it heat up on the stove.

Here are some of the best stovetop coffee makers:

  • Bodum Columbia 8-Cup Stovetop Coffee Maker: This 8-cup coffee maker is made of stainless steel and has a cool-touch handle and lid.
  • Bialetti Moka Express 9-Cup Stovetop Coffee Maker: This classic Italian coffee maker is made of aluminum and produces a full-bodied cup of espresso.
  • Primula 6-Cup Aluminum Stovetop: This 6-cup coffee maker is made of durable aluminum and has a cool-touch handle and lid.

Pour-Over Coffee Makers

If you prefer your coffee to have a bold flavor, then a pour-over coffee maker might be the perfect choice. These coffee makers are typically made of glass and metal, and they require a bit more effort on your part. You’ll need to grind your own beans, heat the water, and use a precise pouring technique. But if you’re up for the challenge, the results are well worth it.

Here are some of the best pour-over coffee makers:

  • Hario V60 Ceramic Coffee Dripper: This ceramic pour-over coffee maker is designed to produce a well-rounded cup of coffee with a smooth flavor.
  • OXO Good Grips Pour-Over Coffee Maker: This stainless steel pour-over coffee maker has a built-in dripper that helps you achieve the perfect flow rate.
  • Kalita Wave Dripper: This stainless steel pour-over coffee maker has a flat bottom that ensures a uniform extraction and a smoother cup of coffee.

Making the switch to a plastic-free coffee maker can help you reduce your environmental impact and enjoy a better cup of coffee. With so many great options available, it’s never been easier to start enjoying a guilt-free morning cup of joe.
